Safety

Once we've received your data, we use a secure copying system to back it up to our storage locations. Those locations include an online facility in Los Angeles and a local offline server in Smiths Station, AL. Additionally, we back these up once a quarter to drives in a safe deposit box in Dothan, AL.

While it is unlikely that any one of these facilities will be subject to disasters or compromised, the real safety for your data comes from redundancy. Any natural disaster or other problem that affects either of the remote locations will be unlikely to affect the local copy here in Smiths: no hurricane, earthquake, flood, fire, or burglary will destroy all copies. In addition, we use different operating systems for the servers involved, and so viruses and other software problems are no threat to your data.
